During the Light Up Leicester 2022 festival, 72 Church Gate will become The Light Café.
The Light Café will be a venue showing light works by locally-based artists Andy Harper & Leonie DuBarry-Gurr, Joe Moran, Paul Mazzitelli & Tony Coleman, and Sean Clark.
The Light Café will also be hosting light sculptures made by pupils at local schools who have been involved in Lighting The Way, plus a gallery of pictures of work made in the workshops and by people at home.
Crystal System
Andy Harper & Leonie DuBarry-Gurr
An immersive and accessible sculptural installation, Crystal System offers new vantage points from which to come to terms with one's existence, in relationship to the world and others around us.
Stalaglite was developed using a large amount of recycled materials (namely glass bottles of all shapes and sizes). It shows new ways in which we can repurpose our everyday waste and reduce our ecological footprint.
Luma
Paul Mazzitelli & Tony Coleman
LUMA is a generative installation that fuses individual scores of sonic evolution with an ever-evolving visual character. Combining projection, LED lighting, lasers and custom projection mapping techniques with a constantly evolving soundtrack.
18 Heartbeats is an experimental artwork in Sean Clark's Colloquy series. Twenty computer-controlled lights exchange colours when they hear each other’s heartbeats, resulting in complex and seemingly unpredictable light sequences.
Light sculptures made by young people around Leicester.
