My art practice is based around an ongoing exploration of systems thinking, computation, and connectedness. I create digital art systems that are composed of sets of interacting components that self-organise in accordance with predefined organisational rules and processes. When running, my systems develop over time: disorder transforms into order; components coalesce into wholes; and Computational Constructs emerge.
The image presented above, titled 250825.1, is a digital print of the starting state of a network of eight interactive visual systems before they engage in a continuous cycle of exchange and reconstruction. The artwork currently exists as a process running on the artThings computer server. Its current visual state can be accessed by scanning a QR code provided next to the exhibited image.
I will be exhibiting the first image from the Computational Constructs series at the Computer Arts Society Drivers exhibition at BCS Moorgate in London from 17th September 2025. This will then be joined by 20 additional prints, an interactive piece and videos from 10th December 2025 until the end of February 2026. These 20 prints will also be shown at the Café Bar at Phoenix in Leicester from January to March 2026. It will also be exhibited in Guangzhou, China, in the new year. After this, I will be looking for galleries or similar venues to show the full set of interactive and printed Computational Constructs artworks in a single or multiple connected locations.
